Our story

Archetype was built because too many brands play it safe.

Same formulas. Same rules. Same outcome. Clean, but forgettable. We don’t believe branding should just “do its job.” If you have the opportunity to stand out, why wouldn’t you take it?

Not everyone has the eye for it. The detail, the instinct, the ability to know when something just works. That’s where we come in. We build brands that feel considered, elevated, and impossible to ignore. Strategy is the foundation, but the execution is where we push. We’re not here to follow rules for the sake of it. We’re here to know them well enough to break them properly.

Where it began

Starting in Dunedin, New Zealand - a small city at the bottom of the world we still call home.

Archetype started from frustration.

Watching brands settle for “good enough.”
Watching founders default to safe, outdated thinking.
Watching creativity get watered down into something acceptable.

At the same time, a new wave started showing up.
More self-aware. More visual. More in tune with what actually feels relevant.

People turning to DIY not just to save money, but because traditional agencies weren’t getting it.

We saw the gap.

So we built Archetype to sit right in the middle of it.
